Recently, it has been declared that the leading company IBM has signed an outsourcing deal with the British Petroleum for handling the oil company’s enterprise applications and integrated service desk operations. The contract has been signed for the next five years.

BP is said to distributing several of its contracts to the service providers. IBM will support BP by providing application development and application maintenance (ADAM) services.

Dana Deasy BP Group CIO said that “We see a significant opportunity to simplify and standardize BP’s work processes while leveraging IBM’s world class expertise in this area and their strong knowledge of the Oil and Gas industry.” It was also added that, “This contract will enable BP to reduce complexity, whilst lowering our overall cost base.”

SAP applications and enhancement of the clients websites is also included in this outsourcing services that IBM will provide to BP. Not all terms and conditions of the deal are revealed yet.
