There is a significant rise of 20-25 % per annum in the offshore outsourcing. The careful evaluation of the geopolitical risk is reduced to insignificant level as most of the technical issues are readily solved by offshore outsourcing. However, that does not mean that you do not think over the risks that you might need to take for offshore outsourcing. Here are some of the risks to think of for offshore outsourcing:
Data Security- IT organizations involved with outsourcing work has sufficient and robust security practices that are impressive. The privacy policies and issues must be addressed completely and appropriately. The entire process right from the requirements to the methods used for working and integration with the vendors must be well documented so that it assures better security.
Process Discipline- CMM (Capability Maturity Model) level 5 is widely used as the offshore vendors requires to have a standardized and repeatable model of process. CMM is one of the important factors for a company to readily adopt an offshore model. The companies that lack in the proper maturity model weaken their chances for cost savings.
Failure to deliver- though the amount of such failure is not that often but it does occur therefore, one of the most essential things to take care of is to deliver the expected work when taking outsourcing into considerations. There are times when in spite of quality methods used for working and proper documented contracts, the dealer simply fails to deliver due to several reasons. Thus be careful of this factor while outsourcing the work.
The Government Regulations- the offshore dealer must be well aware of the government regulations and should be able to provide enough of transparency as to that it is a follower of all those laws. There are several government regulations that cannot be oversight while going for off shore outsourcing.
